This album is a sumptuous blend of global flavour. From the spicy heat of Nigeria, to jazz with a New York swagger, to sexy R&B, and London style club bangers. 'Abiola Time' is a treat that will delight your ears and inspire your heart.
The complex arrangements and a harmonic ear that never rests were able to express themselves in their entirety. Layers upon layers of experimenting with the sound and shape of things. Tracks sung in the styles of opera, musical theatre, classical, pop, R&B, jazz, blues, gospel, Yoruba folk music, salsa, reggae, reggaeton, call and response, would all make themselves known in one tune. Languages that best expressed a particular thought and feeling were used unabashedly. All while doing her own sound effects and voice manipulation in an animated fashion.
The studio was her playground as she recorded this album. A playground where nothing was too odd to try, an additional take was never too much, and the music of dreams were the waking reality.
Now you are invited to partake in this dream of sound unbound. To revel in the sweetness. To weep at the melancholy. And to dance, dance, dance to the exciting rhythms of Abiola Time.
